Legion Memorial

Dedicated in 1924 as a monument to the Culver men who served and died in World War I, the Legion Memorial Building was soon pressed into service as a library – a function it served until 1993.

Though the Legion Building relieved the congestion and dismal surroundings of previous library locations, by the late 1960s it began to wane in its ability to serve the student population, reaching its book capacity by 1980. The Legion also served as the alumni headquarters, providing club rooms, a dormitory, offices and an alumni lounge for returning alumni.

The Legion Memorial Building was renovated in 1996 and today houses the offices of the head of schools, the administrative staff, and the guidance offices, among others. The Alumni Lounge and a multipurpose room are also located on the main level.
