Location
Commonly referred to as the “Cape Cod of the Midwest,” Culver is a quaint community of 1,500 located on the state’s second largest natural lake – Lake Maxinkuckee.
The lake is the lifeblood of the community, drawing seasonal residents and vacationers from Chicago, Indianapolis, and the Midwest during the summer season.
Proximity & Ease
Yet this idyllic town is not the only place to spend your time. Nearby in South Bend, Ind. (home of The University of Notre Dame), you can shop at University Park Mall, dine at excellent restaurants, or pick up the essentials at the big-box stores.
Want more of the big city? Head two hours south to the state capitol, Indianapolis, or two hours north to windy city Chicago.
Outdoor Life
With an 1,800-acre freshwater lake surrounded by rolling prairies and wooded countryside, Culver is a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
Every season is packed with recreational opportunities, from triathlons and concert parties in the park, to ice fishing tournaments and cross-country skiing.
Culver Academies offers additional recreation on our 1,700-acre property, with forested trails, a bird sanctuary and a nine-hole golf course.
A Vibrant Downtown
A short walk from the Culver campus leads you to downtown Culver. Here you will find a relaxed atmosphere of small shops and exquisite restaurants. Culver has always been home to great food – which has been sampled by celebrities and presidents alike.
Rent a bike, a stand-up paddleboard, or a just go for a stroll and explore all this quaint town has to offer.
The Culver Campus
Culver Academies is an integral part of the Culver community. The school’s location and large footprint on the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee make it a centerpiece of any Culver experience. Special weekends like Alumni Reunion, Parents Weekend and Graduation are important contributors to the local economy across multiple counties.
