Who is eligible
Incoming 9th and 10th grade boys and girls from the U.S. or abroad.

Frank Batten
CMA '45
Frank Batten and his wife, Jane, have helped scores of Batten Scholars pursue excellence in learning, life, and leadership. His experience at Culver prepared him well for further studies at the nation’s top universities: he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and his M.B.A. from Harvard. Under Mr. Batten’s leadership as publisher, the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk received a Pulitzer Prize in 1960 for articles championing desegregation. He also consolidated various media properties into Landmark Communications, founded The Weather Channel, and served as chairman of the Associated Press from 1982 to 1987.
