The Military System

Potential is what you make of it.

At Culver, we believe leadership isn't something you're born with. It's something you strive for. It isn't something you possess, but rather something you prove, every day. Day in and day out, in public and private moments, we have the opportunity to live with honor and courage.

This philosophy informs every aspect of the Culver experience. It’s in the training young cadets receive in the art of followership. It’s the reason we were founded and why we exist today: to help our students become capable and confident in their paths forward, driven by both a passion for their unique interests and a commitment to change their communities for the better.

The New Cadet System

Culver's Commandant of Cadets, Col. Mike Squires, writes about the importance of earned self-esteem through the mastery of something, whether it is academics, athletics, or, simply, making a bed.

Military System Overview

The Cadet Journey

As they mature within the military system, cadets assume greater levels of responsibility, including supervisory responsibility for the performance and training of younger cadets. Throughout the process, they are evaluated and mentored by their counselors, military mentors, and other members of the Culver staff and faculty.
