Dear 2019 Softball Parents:
We wanted to take the opportunity to let you know we have the pleasure of coaching your daughter this year, and hope you take a moment to read our bios so you can see that we come prepared, experienced, and excited to continue building a great program for Culver Softball. My coaching experience over the span of 37 years ranges from summer and traveling leagues, up to assisting with Culver's JV softball program in 2007 and as of 2012 accepting the Head Varsity Softball Coaching position to current. Dawn’s experience includes four years Varsity Culver softball while at Culver in the 90’s, to playing Division I softball at Indiana State University and coaching softball for 8 years at the JV/Varsity level at Culver. Coach Jerry Greeson is also our assistant coach for the 6th year at the Varsity level, and at the JV level we are fortunate enough to Emily Munch and Susan Freymiller-DeVillier heading up our skill building!
We are particularly excited for the 2019 year, large in part because of the experience and progress we have made over the past few years, last year ending in a 16-6 2018 season. This year we have a returning pitcher and strength in not only our senior leaders, but returning sophomores and juniors. We have the goal to push through Sectional this year after a tough 5-2 loss in the finals last year. Redemption Year! Complete with NEW Uniforms!
As we continue in our journey of building a disciplined program, we hope you will mirror our philosophies as it comes to the team. As a former Culver parent myself, I fully understand the excitement in seeing your daughter on the softball field in practices and games, and we fully encourage you to take a part in their experience and provide support and enthusiasm for the upcoming year. We do, however, ask that during practices and games your daughter has the undivided attention of the practice/game at hand and please respect, as coaches, we wish for any questions or concerns to come in private to me, away from the softball field. We want to ensure that coaches, parents, and most importantly, the girls, have a positive experience throughout the entire season. Our goal is to have positive, focused players at all times, and we hope you can help us achieve that by limiting distractions while remaining supportive! And of course ask your girls about the annual MUSHBALL game to look forward to-Get your sliding pants on!
As a coaching staff we believe that teamwork is of the utmost importance, and positive attitudes can push all players to the next level. Our coaching will involve discipline if negativity or lack of teamwork is involved; however, we are nothing but excited and positive for the upcoming season and the promise it brings. We can assure you, your daughter is in good hands and will learn many softball and life skills from being a part of this program. Thanks for being a part of this success, too, and we look forward to meeting you after a future game! In the meantime, please check out our softball website and coaching bios for more information on our softball coaching staff, schedules, and more!
Sincerely, Randy Minas (Aka Coach Randy)
