The Culver Academies Athletic Training program, through its involvement with the Culver Academies Athletic program, is committed to supporting the Culver Mission Statement in the development and nurturing of the whole individual: Mind, Body, and Spirit, while complying with the guidelines of the National Athletic Trainers Association and Indiana Athletic Training Practice Act.
The Athletic Training Staff seeks to provide optimal care of student-athletes through daily interaction with the student-athletes, preventative pre-season physicals, consultation with other Health Care professionals, and educational seminars.
The Fleet Gymnasium Athletic Training Room, found in the McMillen Athletic Center #33, serves as the primary facility for the Culver Athletic Training Staff and in-season student-athletes.
The Henderson Ice Arena Athletic Training Room, found in the Henderson Ice Arena #35, serves as home to the Culver Hockey Program when in-season.
The Seigfried Fitness Center Athletic Training Room, found in the Steinbrenner Recreation Center #34, serves as the rehabilitation space for injured student-athletes during the school year. Rehab is coordinated by a member of the Culver Athletic Training Staff.

- Ice Machines
- Hot Packs
- Electrical Stimulation
On Campus Rehab
The Culver Athletic Training staff provides on-campus rehabilitation for injured student-athletes. Throughout the academic year, a Certified Athletic Trainer is dedicated to the coordination of rehab programs with physicians, physical therapists, and other ATCs. Culver Athletic Trainers are then able to accommodate programs for:
- Pre- and Post- surgical rehabs
- In-season athletic injuries
- Out-of-season athletic injuries
- Non-athletic injuries
- Concussion "Brain" Rehab and Return to Play Protocol
Other on-campus rehabilitation resources include:
- Aquatic Therapy in the Lowenstine Natatorium
- Gua Sha and Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM) Instrumentation
- Electrical Stimulation and Ultrasound
Off-Campus Rehabilitation is coordinated through the Culver Health Center.
Below is a brief description of the Policies, Procedures and services provided by the Athletic Training program. For a more detailed description please contact a member of the athletic training staff.
Emergency Action Plan (EAP): The Culver Athletic Training program has a well-developed EAP that is reviewed annually and coordinated with the campus Health Center, Campus Safety and local EMS.
Participation Requirements: Each student-athlete must comply with all Culver Academies rules and regulations regarding participation. In addition, they must adhere to the rules and regulations of their governing body, such as the IHSAA or USA Rugby, regarding participation and return to participation following an injury. It is the responsibility of the student-athlete, Athletic Trainers, athletic department, and coaches to ensure that these regulations are being followed.
Event Coverage: Every attempt will be made to provide athletic training coverage at home athletic events. For away events athletic training coverage will be provided at away events when available and appropriate.
Concussion Protocol: Culver Academies offers a comprehensive concussion program for all students from neurocognitive baseline testing, evaluation, academic accommodations, concussion rehabilitation, to a return to play program.
Skin Disease Action Plan: Culver Academies has a developed policies and procedures in coordination with the campus Health Center and Campus Safety to respond to skin infections outbreaks.
Weather Emergencies: Culver Academies take weather conditions seriously and has protocols to respond to weather conditions such as Lightning, Heat, Cold and Tornado’s.
CPR/AED Expectations for Coaches: Anyone who coaches at Culver is expected to have CPR/AED certification.
Comprehensive Care: The Athletic training staff works closely with the school physicians at the Health Center on all matters related to the care and treatment of student-athletes.
