On Saturday, the CGA Varsity Lacrosse team hosted Guerin Catholic on what would serve as CGA's senior day (photo below).Culver managed a convincing 18-7 win, advancing the team to 9-3 and concluding regular season play.
The win was more than just a positive way to end regular season, however. The victory over Guerin represents the 100th career win for head coach Debra Trau, who has been at the helm since 2013. Her cumulative record is now 100-31 (.763 win percentage) over the course of the seven seasons.
"It is a program win," said Trau of the milestone. "The credit goes to the talented girls that I have been blessed to have since I arrived at Culver. That said, I am glad that it happened this year, as this group of girls is special. While they are really young, they have great attitudes, believe in each other and support one another."
Under Trau's direction, the team has won the Indiana Girls Lacrosse Association (INGLA) 2013 state championship, as well as made a state championship appearance in '17.
Since assuming the head coach position, the program has produced five US Lacrosse First Team All-Americans and one honorable mention, as well as 13 All-Academic selections.
The CGA program currently has a week and a half to prepare for post-season play, which is scheduled to begin on May 16th as CGA will host Carmel High School in class 2A sectional play. That game is set to begin at 7:30pm on Oliver Field. The winner will take on the winner of Penn High School versus Zionsville High School.
