CGA Track and Field takes IHSAA Sectional Championship

On Tuesday, CGA Track and Field, led by team captain Erin Anderson (photo above) took first-place as a team at the IHSAA Sectional at Plymouth High School.

CGA scored in all 16 events, with seven victories. All three CGA relay teams won, along with Anderson repeating her championship victory in the 400. Additionally, Marissa Rivera claimed first in the 800, and Cecille Figueroa in the 100 and 200. Figueroa lowered her CGA freshman record to 13.01 in the 100 in the finals.  

Maggie Bialek also contributed with two 2nd place finishes in the pole vault and the 400, while  Madi Miller claimed the runner-up spot in the discus and the shot-put.  

"It was definitely a team effort," said head coach Michael Chastain. "The momentum they built will serve them well in the upcoming regional event."

The top three finishers in each event will travel to Warsaw next Tuesday for the regional competition
