On Tuesday, the CGA Track team had several individuals competing in the IHSAA Regional meet hosted by Warsaw High School.
Marissa Rivera won in the 800 meter event and Erin Anderson placed third in the 400 and both took part in the first-place finishing 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Rivera, Maggie Bialek, and Anderson. All have advanced to the IHSAA StateFinals meet on Saturday, June 1 at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex at Indiana University, Bloomington.
Rivera and Anderson repeated their advancement to the state meet in their individual events, and they also made an appearance two years ago on the program's 4x400 relay team that finished sixth in the state overall.
Madi Miller finished seventh in the discus with a new personal record of 106’1”. Additionally, she was the top freshman in the shot and discus at the regional meet.
Cecille Figueroa was fifth in the 200 meters setting a new CGA freshman record. Cecille was the lone freshman in that particular event for the regional meet.
Maggie Bialek finished sixth in the 400 with a strong showing. The 4x100 and 4x800 relay teams also had strong showings to get season best performances.
Admission to the State Final meet will be $10 at the gate.
