CGA Swim's Season Concludes at IHSAA State Finals

The IHSAA girls state finals swim and dive preliminaries began on Friday night at the Indiana University Natatorium at IUPUI.

CGA's Autumn Baumgartner ('21 Argos, IN) placed ninth overall in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.54, and 13th overall in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 51.77. Both times bested Baumgartner's previous season low times. The performance earned her a spot in Saturday's consolation 50 and 100 yard freestyle events. In the consolations, she finished 10th overall in the 50-yard free and 13th overall in the 100-yard free with times of 23.77 and 52.32, respectively.

The CGA Swim's 400-yard freestyle relay team (title photo) consisting of Avery Bolden ('19 Chicago, IL), Baumgartner, Kylie Dehner ('20 Plymouth, IN), Amina Shafeek-Horton ('20 Charlotte, NC), and alternate Mary Cate Wright ('20 South Bend, IN) also competed Friday evening, finishing 27th overall 3:42.82. The 400-yard relay team did not advance to Saturday's finals.  

"The girls worked hard all season," said head coach Sarah Youvan. "They came to swim hard this weekend and they did exactly that, which produce individual best times across the board."
