Saturday, September 22nd, the CGA Golf team put together what is their lowest 18-hole team total of the season (309) at Battle Ground GC as they advance to the IHSAA State Finals, which will take place on September 28th and 29th at Prairie View GC in Carmel, IN. The team's total dominated the field, with second place Lafayette Jefferson posting a team 330.
Reese Wilson led the team and the event with a Low Medalist 70, Katie Shin posted an impressive 79, Amanda Kurteff and Lucy Pugh both strung together rounds of 80, and Masako Hatano turned in an 83. For Shin and Pugh, their rounds at Battle Ground represents their season 18-hole low, as both bested their previously low rounds by four and seven strokes, respectively. Wilson also matched her season low, who hadn't competed since the team's first event of the season due to injury.
"I am incredibly proud of the girls," say Coach Karen Rudd. "After a heart-breaking loss at sectionals, they bounced back and put together what could be the best round in CGA Golf history."
The girls will hit the road on September 27th for a practice round at Prairie View before beginning competition on Friday.
