CGA and CMA October 2018 Athletes of the Month

Culver Athletics is proud to announce its Culver Athletes of the Month for October, 2018.

From CGA: Sammie Farrall '19 (Valparaiso, IN)

Farrall has recently been selected to the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association's 3A All-District team, invited to tryout for the IHSVCA's senior 3A & 4A North All-Star team, and been named a Wendy's High School Heisman school winner.

According to Head Volleyball Coach Alex Ericson, “I’ve never asked more of a player than I have of Samantha Farrall. She’s been the one we’ve built our system around for the last four years, and she has responded with the best season of her career. As our setter, she has posted 550 assists this year alone with more than 2,000 in her career. She also led our team in blocking, hitting, and serving percentage.... a feat unheard of for a setter. She led our team to three regular season tournament championships, a third straight year of breaking the school record for wins, and she guided her team into the sectional championship match which Culver has not competed for in for the last 33 years. Samantha had an amazing run this October as her senior season came to a close and replacing her as a teammate and a person will be even more difficult than replacing her as a player.”

From CMA: Deontae Craig '20 (Fort Wayne, IN)

Deontae led the Eagles to a 2-1 record during the month of October with impressive wins over South Bend St. Joe and Bremen. Defensively, he accumulated 19 total tackles highlighted by 6.5 tackles for losses including two sacks. On offense, his blocking helped lead the CMA rushing attack while also catching three passes. Head Football Coach Andy Dorrel said, “Deontae’s impressive performance on the football field has earned him scholarship offers from Big Ten and SEC schools such as Michigan State, Purdue, IU and Tennessee.  Most impressive, however, is Deontae’s positive attitude and team-first approach to the game. He is quick to deflect personal accolades and embodies the CMA football mantra of Eagles for Brothers.”
