“This scholarship allows me to attend the school of my dreams while pursuing an interest that I hope to turn into a viable career.I am currently involved in Culver’s theatre program, where I will be taking part in two shows. For two hours following the end of each academic day, I spend time in Eppley Auditorium familiarizing myself with the craft, the space, and the people around me who share this same passion for the performing arts.”A.J. BlackHuffington Scholar
Michael Huffington is one of those alumni whose interests and generosity demonstrate how many paths a Culver education can open. After Culver, Mr. Huffington studied economics and engineering at Stanford University and earned his M.B.A. in finance from Harvard Business School. He was appointed deputy assistant secretary of defense for negotiations policy by President Reagan. From 1993 to 1995, he served his community as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California’s 22nd District. Today, Mr. Huffington operates two film companies — the inspiration behind this scholarship program — and is the founder of the Archangel Michael Foundation, which supports charitable work around the world.
