Students shine in Culver’s Theatre and Film program, both on stage and behind-the-scenes. .
From building sets, to creating award winning short films and acting on stage, Culver students have the opportunity to participate in on-campus productions, work in state-of-the-art facilities, and collaborate with professionals.
Huffington Concert Series
The Huffington Concert Series is a program sponsored by Michael Huffington ’65 designed to bring current, professional-level performances to the Culver community. Tickets are free for all Huffington Concert Series performances.
Theatre and Film Instruction
- Acting courses for all skill levels focus on various aspects of the craft, from physical and camera acting to developing the characters and actor’s voice.
- Student technicians gain experience working backstage during productions such as the Huffington Concert Series.
- Theatre program students have the chance to work with world-renowned actors, singers and dancers as part of the Visiting Artist program.
- The Theatre program presents two main stage productions and a film festival each year. The productions are free and open to the public. Information can be found on the Culver Academies calendar page.
- Culver Theatre students have the opportunity to join Culver Academies’ chapter of the International Thespian Society, a nationally recognized high school theater honor society. This membership provides students with national leadership and scholarship opportunities.

Three Culver Academies students spent part of their summer immersed in intensive film and theatre training at Northwestern University after earning spots in the university's highly selective National High School Institute.
Seniors Gabby Bernal and Elaine Zhang and junior Juwon Chung were accepted into the renowned summer program, which brings together talented young artists from around the world for five weeks of classes, workshops and performances on Northwestern's campus in Evanston, Illinois.

Charlotte Hass ’27 and Kaily Jo Norris ’26 have backstage roles in “Suffs,” a musical about the women’s suffrage movement, put on by Indiana chapter of the International Thespian Festival, that was selected to perform on the main stage at this year’s international competition in Bloomington, Indiana, in June.
The Indiana troupe was selected from 40 groups competing for one of 12 high school berths.
