The Challenge Course is used by Culver as a unique tool of Culver’s year-round Leadership education.
Established in 1986 to enhance the leadership opportunities students experience on campus, the curriculum includes the development of communication skills, group dynamics, conflict resolution, plus techniques and methods for planning, human relations, motivation, and time management.
The Challenge Course also has been used to help new students bond as a class, bring athletic teams closer together, and as an ancillary teaching tool in other educational departments.
The course most notably consists of a high ropes facility and also a “low” program that emphasizes cooperative, problem solving and team-building skills
The Challenge Course curriculum at Culver Academies is a laboratory that makes the principles of teamwork, trust, perseverance, and respect for self and others come alive. It makes crystal clear the connections between lessons learned on the ropes course and their application in the boardroom and the classroom. The program cultivates the formation of healthy relationships and encourages participants to know, value and act on the communal good.
