Dear Softball Student- Athletes and Parents:
We wanted to take the opportunity to let you know we have the pleasure of coaching your daughter this year and know that we come prepared, experienced, and excited to continue building a great program for Culver Softball. My coaching experience over the span of 35 years ranges from summer and traveling leagues, up to assisting with Culver's JV softball program in 2007 and as of 2012 accepting the Head Varsity Softball Coaching position to current. Dawn’s experience includes four years Varsity Culver softball while at Culver in the 90’s, to playing Division I softball at Indiana State University and coaching softball for 6 years at the JV/Varsity level at Culver. Coach Jerry Greeson is also our assistant coach for the 4th year at the Varsity level, and at the JV level we are fortunate enough to have Kaycie Pyle as the head coach, with Coach Susan Freymiller as assistant coach.
We are particularly excited for the 2018 year, large in part because of the experience and progress we have made over the past few years; the 2017 season ending in a 12-7 win/loss record with most girls coming back. We are also happy to let you know our sectionals changed from the tough one we were in with St. Joe and Marian.
As we continue in our journey of building a disciplined program, we hope you will mirror our philosophies as it comes to the team. We want to ensure that coaches, parents, and most importantly, the girls, have a positive experience throughout the entire season. Our goal is to have positive, focused players at all times, and we hope you can help us achieve that by limiting distractions while remaining supportive! And of course ask your girls about the MUSHBALL game on Saturday, 4/28/18 RAIN or SHINE (We hope you are a part of it!)
As a coaching staff we believe that teamwork is of the utmost importance, and positive attitudes can push all players to the next level. Our coaching will involve discipline if negativity or lack of teamwork is involved; however, we are nothing but excited and positive for the upcoming season and the promise it brings. We can assure you, your daughter is in good hands and will learn many softball and life skills from being a part of this program. Thanks for being a part of this success, too, and we look forward to meeting you after a future game! In the meantime, please check out our softball website and coaching bios for more information on our softball coaching staff, schedules, and more!
