To support the development of our student-athletes CMA Baseball relies on a philosophy that fully embraces Culver’s mission. Our core belief is that the process and approach we take to the game is more important than the results. We live this philosophy by frequently discussing and employing a focused and purposeful mental approach, “play one pitch at a time.” As coaches we use the program’s process-oriented philosophy to assess our success. Our practices are designed around evaluating our effort and focus, and after a game we use the philosophy as groundwork to discuss our performance. Do not get us wrong; we are competitive, and we have high expectations. There is a bigger picture though, and we believe that the lessons learned in the baseball program are transferable lessons. We believe in the Culver mission and are proud to serve our student athletes.
While we have had a number of former CMA baseball players go on to compete in college, we take great pride in our ability to also cater to the needs of younger and, often, inexperienced players. We do not cut, and it gives us great pleasure to help all our athletes grow as young men. Our official season goes from mid-March through the end of May. The JV team plays a schedule of approximately 20 games. While we enjoy supporting baseball players involved in fall and winter sports, for players not in a fall and/or winter sport, we offer a fall strength-training program and a winter strength training and throwing program.
