Anthony Mayfield joined the Culver Academies staff in 1974 in the Alumni Office and subsequently served as the counselor of Company A and as a history instructor from 1977 to 1987. During this same time period he began working in the summer as the Woodcraft Program Director and later as Director of Culver Specialty Camps. In 1987 he was appointed Director of the Woodcraft Camp and held that position until 1998 when he was appointed Director of the Culver Summer Schools and Camps. A 1965 graduate of Culver Military Academy, he earned a bachelor's degree in Education from Indiana University in 1970 and an MS in Education from Indiana University in 1972. Throughout his Culver career Tony enjoyed 25 years of coaching both the boy's and girl's golf teams. He is the past president of the Association of Independent Camps and served on the National Board of the American Camp Association. Tony and his wife, Sherri L. Mayfield, Director of the Academic Skills Center, are parents of son, Capt. Ryan G. Mayfield '94G, NB'92, W'89, and daughter Allison Brooke Oak '97G, L'95, W'92.
