Culver Girls Academy's Alex Banfich decided she'll run at Princeton University in the fall of 2008.

The long distance star from Plymouth made her announcement Wednesday.

Banfich is in California for a very prestigious race this weekend. 80 of the nation's elite high school cross country runners will be competing in the 29th annual Foot Locker Cross Country Championships National Finals at Morley Field at Balboa Park.

Entering its 29th year, the finalists for the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships are comprised of the top 10 boys and top 10 girls out of four regional 5K races - Northeast (Bronx, N.Y.), Midwest (Kenosha, Wis.) and South (Charlotte, N.C.) and West Regional (Walnut, Calif.).

The championship race will be webcast live on http://www.footlockercc.com, beginning with the girls race at 9:15 a.m., followed by the boys race at 10:00 a.m. In addition, FSN will air a one-hour special of the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships on Monday, Dec. 17.

The most prestigious individual cross country race in the nation, the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships has produced some of the nation's top athletes, including seven U.S. Olympic Team members.
