H.S. FENCING


Four place in Midwest Open

Area high school fencers won four of the six individual divisions at the Midwest High School Open at the Culver Academies Saturday.

St. Joseph's High School's Josh Dolezal won the men's epee and Ana Warr of Culver Girls Academy took the women's side.

CGA's Mary Saran won the women's sabre, while Gene Shmurak CMA captured the men's foil.

The Midwest Open is the largest high school-age tournament in the Midwest, with more than 400 competitors from six high schools and 12 clubs coming from seven states. Each individual fenced 10 to 11 matches to reach the finals
