Canada tabs Miceli


Culver Military Academy senior Greg Miceli has been selected for the U-19 Canadian lacrosse team. Miceli was one of 64 players invited to the final selection camp in British Columbia Oct. 4-7. He was notified late last week of his selection as one of 22 national team players.

Head coach Gary Gait and assistant coaches Ted Sawicki and Jeff Gombar assessed the players over the three days providing feedback at the end of each session. Gait, a four-time college All-American lacrosse player at Syracuse University and United States Lacrosse Hall of Famer. From Vancouver, Gait is now the women’s lacrosse coach at Syracuse.

Miceli, from King City, Ont., will play in the World Championship Games in July 2008, in Vancouver. He was selected to the team as a defenseman. He also plays long-stick midfielder for the Eagles. He was named the Most Valuable Defensive Player in CMA's state championship victory over Zionsville last spring.
