Mascari to be inducted into BSU Hall of Fame
CULVER — Culver Girls Academy softball coach Jen
Mascari will be one of four former Ball State University athletes to be
inducted into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame.
Mascari (Field Hockey, 1994-98) will be joined by Randy Boarden
(Basketball, 1975-79), Keith McKenzie (Football, 1992-96) and Todd Reimer
(Volleyball, 1990-95) as the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2006-07.
Mascari capped off her Ball State field hockey career by receiving the
1997-98 Woody Hayes National Female Scholar-Athlete Award, which is
selected from all female NCAA Division I student-athletes in all sports.
She was part of a class which helped Ball State to a four-year 70-19-2
overall mark, a 45-0 record against Mid-American Conference opponents,
four MAC Championships and three berths in the NCAA Tournament, including
two Final Eight appearances. Mascari was a 1997 All-American and a 1995
and 1997 Academic All-American.
Along with being CGA’s softball coach, she is currently the wellness
instructor at Culver Academies. She and her husband, Tommy Mascari, have
two daughters.
The four inductees will be formally inducted on Saturday, Jan. 27 in a
ceremony at the Ball State Alumni Center, and then will be introduced at
the Ball State men’s basketball 2 p.m. game against Ohio on Sunday, Jan.
28 at Worthen Arena. The candidates and their families will also be
invited to attend the women’s basketball home game against Ohio at 1
p.m. on Saturday and the men’s volleyball game Saturday night after the
induction dinner.
The induction dinner is open to the public. Ball
State Cardinal Varsity Club members can attend for $25 per person, while
non-CVC members are welcome for $30 per person. To make reservations,
