Article published Oct 28, 2006 Late surge carries CMA by Panthers Culver Military Academy scored two touchdowns in 18 seconds to beat defending state champion NorthWood 21-13 in the Class 3-A Sectional 19 semifinals Friday. The Panthers had knocked the Eagles out of the playoffs the past two years. Culver Military's Neven Fingerhut scored on a 2-yard run to tie the game with 6:21 remaining in the fourth quarter. Kyler Scott's PAT gave the Eagles a one-point lead. Scott then recovered his own onside kick, giving CMA the ball on the 50. Fingerhut broke through the middle on the next play to score. The Eagles (9-2) controlled the ball in the fourth quarter, running 21 times for 192 yards. NorthWood ran just nine plays -- three rushing and six passing -- in the period. The final Panther play was a pass tipped by senior defensive back Andy Parchman and intercepted by junior defensive back Barrick Bollman at the Eagles' 6. Fingerhut finished with 140 yards on 30 carries. CMA's Dee Warr had 119 yards on nine carries, including a 58-yard run that allowed the Eagles to run out the clock. CMA will travel to New Prairie next Friday for the sectional championship. At Culver
