CMA completes lacrosse sweep

INDIANAPOLIS -- Culver Military Academy completed a sweep of the state lacrosse championships with a 9-5 win over defending-champion Zionsville at John Carroll Stadium Saturday.

Last week, Culver Girls Academy won the girls state championship.

After a sluggish first three quarters, CMA scored five times in the final quarter.

Trailing 5-4 after three quarters, Zach Hamilton tied it with one of his two goals in, and seven seconds later, Andy Parchman scored what proved to be the game-winner off a face off.

Parchman scored three goals and had an assist to earn Offensive Player of the Game honors. He was also named the state's Player of the Year and to the Academic All-American team.

"Everything came together in the fourth quarter," CMA coach Jon Posner said. "I thought we were nervous the first three quarters and we kind of woke up."

Cory Hibbeler had four goals for CMA, which finished 16-6 overall and 10-1 against Indiana competition.

CMA's Greg Miceli was named the defensive player of the game. Goalie Key McKinley had 11 saves, including four in the fourth quarter.
