John Sherck joined the Culver Academies' Student Life department in 2010 as Counselor for Band. Prior to coming to Culver, he taught at independent high schools for 8 years, including music and English at The Kiski School, a boys boarding school in Pennsylvania, where he also ran a dorm and coached tennis, soccer, and basketball. He has also taught English at Moses Brown School in Providence, RI. John earned a BA in English and music from Kenyon College in 1999. While working toward a MA in music theory and composition at Kent State, he directed the KSU Women's Ensemble and assisted in the choral music department. He is also an active composer.

John serves as a coach for the CMA and CGA tennis teams and assists the Quiz Bowl team. He and his wife Lauren had their first child, a daughter named Thea, in January of 2010. Lauren teaches physics at Culver.
