  Alison Turney Receives Culver Bowl
 

Alison Turney of Tower was the recipient of The Jane Metcalfe Culver Bowl, presented to the Culver Girls Academy senior who has distinguished herself in scholastic and athletic achievements.

The daughter of Mr. Peter and Dr. Susan Turney of Marshfield, Wis., Turney will attend Yale University in New Haven, Conn., this fall on an academic scholarship. She will also play hockey.

A three-year student, Turney earned four Gold A’s and one Silver A. Her other academic honors include induction into the Cum Laude Society, a national academic honor organization for seniors, and a President’s Education Award, presented to graduating seniors with a GPA of at least 3.5 and scores in the 85th percentile on either the SAT verbal, SAT math, or ACT composite.

Turney played varsity girls’ hockey and received the MVP award this year.  She also was a member of the varsity soccer, crew and track teams.

     She was a member of the Science Club, Community Service Organization, Cordon Society, and the Student Admissions Organization. She was a staff member of The Vedette and served two terms as chairwoman of her dorm.
