As
the recipient of the Mary Frances England
Humanitarian Award, Katherine Martha of Linden
is the graduate of Culver Girls Academy who, by
her acts, revealed an exemplary concern for
others.
Martha
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Martha of
Pittsburgh and a four-year student at The
Academies.
She
earned seven Gold A’s, the highest academic
honor reserved for students earning a minimum
semester grade-point average of 3.7 or better.
Her other academic honors include early
induction into the Cum Laude Society, a national
academic honor organization for seniors, and the
Blue Key Award from the Blue Key Society, an
academic honor organization for juniors.
Martha
was also a recipient of The President’s
Education Award, which is awarded to graduating
seniors with a GPA of at least 3.5 and scores in
the 85th percentile on either the SAT verbal, SAT math,
or ACT composite.
She
was captain of the swimming team and set a
school record in the 200-meter individual
medley.
Martha
held several student leadership positions, was
chairperson of her dorm for three rotations, and
secretary of the CGA Council. She was a member
of the Campus Activities Board, the Cordon
Society, and the Bicycle Club.
She
received the Student Activities Award, presented
to the member of the graduating class who has
enhanced the quality of life on campus through
creative planning and responsible implementation
of student activities and programs.
Martha
will attend the University of Maryland in
College Park, Md.
