Sarah
Falcon of Tower was this recipient of The Hughes
Award. Given in honor of the late Arthur G.
Hughes, first chairman of the Fine Arts
Department, the award is given to the Culver
Girls Academy senior who has revealed
exceptional concern for cultural life on campus.
Falcon
is a four-year student and the daughter of Dr.
Theresa M. Falcon-Cullinan and Dr. Stephen A.
Cullinan of Peoria, Ill.
At
the May 25 Awards Convocation, she also received
the Arion Award for outstanding achievement in
vocal music, the Josh Logan Award for unusual
dedication to the production of musicals at The
Academies, and the Fred C. Koch Award for
outstanding originality in the arts and
sciences. She participated in theater and choir
and was a member of the All-State Choir two
years. This year, she was a vocal soloist at the
state music competition.
Falcon
has earned six Gold A’s, one Silver A, and was
a recipient of The President’s Education
Award. Her other academic honors include early
induction into the Cum Laude Society, a national
academic honor organization for seniors, and the
Blue Key Society, an academic honor organization
for juniors.
Outside
the classroom, Falcon was captain of the
girls’ cross-country team and received the No.
1 Runner Award. She has held several student
leadership positions and was secretary/treasurer
of her class for two years. She was a member of
Alliance for Student Harmony, Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, and the Cordon Society.
Falcon
will attend Northwestern University in Evanston,
Ill., in the fall.
