Summer School Nutritionist

Job Summary:

From May through mid-October, the Nutritionist will promote healthy eating and provide nutritional services as requested by and for the staff, faculty & campers/students at Culver Academies. 
Responsibilities:

• Nutrition & diet consultations with faculty, staff, & students/campers (to include parents if appropriate) in the Nutrition Office (Fitness Center) upon request.
• Provide RD consults for Health Center clients per established procedures.
• Provide instruction on hydration and adequate caloric intake to summer staff at summer staff orientation.
• Provide sports nutrition assistance/advice to coaches, athletes and/or teams as requested.
• Interact with campus community related to eating disorders
• Assist campers/students with food allergies, helping them determine which foods they can and cannot eat. Write allergy-specific menus for campers who have such a narrow range of choices that their nutritional requirements cannot be met by selections provided at the dining hall. Provide these menus to cooks at least 1 week in advance in order to allow for adequate planning and preparation.
• Assist with product selection, recipe evaluation, or other nutrition-related needs that arise at the Dining Hall, Bookstore, or Snack Bar.

Requirements:

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree & internship from a university nutrition and dietetics education program that has been accredited by the American Dietetic Association’s Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education. Applicants must possess a current Registered Dietitian (RD) credential. Experience working with children and/or teenagers, and certification or degree in Exercise Science is preferred.
