School Psychologist – Culver Academies
March 6, 2008

The Culver Academies, a selective college preparatory boarding Winter School (grades 9 – 12), and The Culver Summer Camps (ages 9 – 18) seek a caring professional with unique expertise in supporting adolescents. This professional will serve Summer Camps and Winter School. Student population is international and diverse. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • consultation with classroom instructors/supportive staff and intervention development to support students who struggle academically or behaviorally; 

  • provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention support for students using evidence-based therapy techniques and creative therapeutic modalities (e.g. sand tray therapy);

  • teach an Introduction to Psychology course and at the request of instructors teach lessons on mental health issues in classrooms; 

  • facilitate student groups; 

  • assist in the management of psychoeducational evaluation initiatives;

  • coordinate and review evaluative data from outside professionals;

  • coordinate mental health programs on campus;

  • foster supportive and collegial teamwork with professional staff; 

  • nourish healthy interactions between students, faculty, and staff; 

  • complete special projects as assigned.

    Responsibilities require: superior competence in clinical assessment, consultation, intervention development, and crisis intervention; excellent writing skills; program and course/curriculum development skills; sharp organization and time management skills; and dynamic communication techniques for individual, small and large group settings for adolescents and/or adults. 

    The successful candidate will be or will be eligible to attain certification as a School Psychologist in Indiana and have a MA/EdS. Sand Tray Therapy training/certification(s) preferred or willingness to obtain. Professional memberships preferred. Full-time (12 month) position begins in May of 2008. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience. This position requires professional to reside in Culver, Indiana. Culver will assist with relocation costs.
