Dear Tower Alumnae!
Everyone knows that tradition is important at Culver. Tower has several traditions of its own. The over-arching theme since “Schmieds” (that’s me) assumed this position back in 2000 is that Tower is a “home away from home.”
Every person here is important and we all contribute, from the newest freshman, to the resident director. Every month we plan something fun, from the Ugly Sister Contest, to the Holiday Countdown to the dinner outing to celebrate Tower’s seniors.
It isn’t only about fun, though. My leaders are looking to reinstate The Store next year, selling snacks out of the resident director’s office to create an on-going effortless fundraiser for the dorm. Thankful Thursday, our initiative that revolves around a healthful snack to get the girls thinking about nutrition and proper eating habits, is still going strong.
Tower is a special family and we need to ensure that everyone feels as though they are part of the greater whole. I know some of my girls would not be here without the financial aid The Culver Fund provides. If they had to leave before graduation, it would be a real loss. And where would we be without the wonderful resident directors with whom I’ve been blessed these past 12 years? The Culver Fund of course helps attract talented and diverse faculty, but also beloved staff like our current resident director, Carla Pennebaker.
There’s no place like Tower – and we love each girl as though they were our own!
Your gifts to The Culver Fund are important to the girls here and the Academies as a whole, and are much appreciated.
