The 2004 - 2005 Intern Class


 

 

The Culver Academies are proud to announce the 12 interns for the 2004-05 school year.

 

Allen Babcock

Babcock graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater Tech. He will teach Acting and Theater Tech classes, as well as design sets and lighting boards for the fall and spring student productions, and help the concert series performers and guest lecturers transition into the theater facility. He has experience as a director and designer for Syracuse University productions and also has worked with Charlotte Repertory Theatre, Up & Running Productions, and Black Box Players. 

 

Sarah Baldwin

Baldwin holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Studio Art from Hamilton College. She will teach in the Art Department and also has expressed interest in working during the second semester with the Myth and Literature course. Baldwin will be an assistant coach for the girls ice hockey and girls lacrosse teams. She earned many academic honors at Hamilton and performed many hours of community service, as well as competing in field hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse.

 

Timothy Cash

Cash, who holds a Master of Arts degree in History from Boston College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Valparaiso University, will teach in the ninth grade Humanities program.  In addition, he will serve as an assistant basketball coach and working with the cross country and track teams.

 

Michael Chapper

Chapper graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He will teach in the ninth grade Humanities program.  His minor in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies will add to the depth of the ninth-grade group as it continues to explore the addition of non-Western cultures to the curriculum. Chapper will coach basketball and boys lacrosse.

 

Christina Coons

Coons earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics from Muhlenberg College. She will teach in the 10th grade Humanities program and coach in the girls hockey and lacrosse programs. Coons also attended The Taft School.

 

Christopher Davies

Davies holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies, with specialization in History, from Columbia University. He will teach in the ninth grade Humanities program and coach soccer and wrestling. He also attended Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School.

 

Annette Gonzalez

Gonzalez is a Hope College graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in athletic training. She also has a minor in Spanish. Gonzalez will teach Anatomy during the first semester and Spanish I second semester.  She also will serve as an assistant athletic trainer.

 

Jeryl Hayes

Hayes graduated from the Academies in 2000 before matriculating at Denison University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in Spanish. She will work in the Admissions office and will help with the speech team. 

 

James Leighton

Leighton attended Princeton University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mechanical Aerospace Engineering. He will teach math and coach fencing. Leighton has fenced for eleven years, including four as squad leader on the Princeton team.

 

Avery McGlenn

McGlenn, a Colgate University graduate who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, will teach American Government, coach girls ice hockey, and help with the intra-mural program. She was the captain of the Colgate women’s ice hockey team last season.

 

David Racine

Racine graduated from the Academies in 2000 before heading to Hamilton College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He will teach the junior English course and coach boys ice hockey and boys lacrosse.

 

Kristin Ware

Kristin is another member of the Academies’ class of 2000. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History and English Literature from Brown University and will teach American History at Culver. In addition, she will coach cross country and track, both of which she participated in during college. Ware was captain of the cross country team at Brown as a senior.
