New Virtual Tour Showcases Campus

Stepping foot on the Culver Academies campus has always been one of hallmarks of the Culver experience. There is something about the stately architecture and wooded campus along Lake Maxinkuckee that literally has to be seen to be believed.
A campus visit is a must for prospective students and parents, but now they can also see the campus in all its splendor from a multitude of vantage points via the new Culver Academies Virtual Tour posted to the website.
Associate Director of Admissions Derek Perkins is excited about being able to showcase the campus to prospective families with the virtual tour.
“It’s hard to imagine what an 1,800-acre campus with over 50 buildings and facilities looks like. So, a virtual tour is vital from the perspective of the Admissions Office. It allows families to get a sense of the scope of what we are all about here. Our hope is that the virtual tour will inspire families to visit in person for a shadow day experience,” Perkins said.

An Alumni Gift
A gift of Oklahoma businessman and rancher Jud Little, a 1965 Culver Military Academy graduate, this scenic tour of campus provides a series of 360-degree perspectives from various locations across the campus. This vibrant tour covers different times of the day and focuses on four areas: the overall campus, academic buildings, athletic facilities, and student life (units and dorms).
For Little, a former president of The Culver Legion, the Academies alumni association, the motivation was twofold: Getting prospective students and parents to campus helps to sell the school. The virtual tour is the “the next best thing to actually being there,” Little said.
The virtual tour is also a way for alumni who haven’t been to campus for some time to again “see how magnificent this place is,” he said. It is a way for alumni to experience what has changed and, more importantly, what has not.
Little had a 360 virtual tour done of his ranch and quarter horse breeding operation and received “an overwhelming response.” As a businessman, it was an effective move, and one that he thought was good for Culver.
Whether you are a first-time visitor or making a return trip, the Culver Academies Virtual Tour will make you want to schedule a trip to campus sooner rather than later. Visit Culver today – from the convenience of your computer, iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad..
