Financial Aid Application Procedure for the
Culver
Summer Camps
(revised September 2007)
Financial assistance is available to campers applying for Culver’s six-week Upper and Woodcraft camp
programs and is dependent on family financial need as well as the qualifications of the applicant for camp.
No financial aid is available for the one week Specialty Camp program.
Campers must first be accepted to the Culver Summer Schools & Camps through the regular application process.
For new campers, this means that the camp application, (including the $250 application fee, two personal recommendations,
appropriate release forms, the enrollment agreement, and the medical history form) must be received and approved
by the Admissions Committee.
Returning campers need to send the re-enrollment application, (including the $250 application fee, enrollment
agreement, appropriate release forms and the medical history form) for approval by the Admissions Committee.
(Note: returning campers will sometimes be requested to submit new recommendations, in which case they are
also required before financial aid consideration may be given.
Financial aid forms are requested by marking the designated space on the application form
The Culver Summer Schools & Camps require families to complete
the School and Student Services Financial Aid application. The School and Student Services Financial Aid application
must be returned directly to SSS, accompanied by a check for the fee, payable to them. The fees are listed
on the SSS forms.
In addition to submitting the financial packet to School and Student Services, the camper and family must
submit the additional Culver forms in support of the financial aid application directly to Culver, including
a camper essay, current grades or transcripts and an additional recommendation form to be completed by the
candidate’s school.
All of the required financial aid forms, along with instructions for filling them out, will be sent to those
who mark the appropriate space on the camp application form.
All Financial Aid forms need to be submitted to School and Student Services and to
Culver by March 1, 2008.
The Financial Aid Committee will consider each application for assistance. Family financial need will be the
largest factor in determining the actual amount of financial assistance offered. Special scholarships are available
for qualified male and female musicians ages 13-17 to fill instrumental vacancies in the Upper Camp marching
and concert Band.
Parents of campers will be notified of the amount of financial aid offered in early April and will be given
a date by which to respond to the offer. Award amounts vary from $200 to $3,100, and a financial commitment is always
required of the family to cover costs such as transportation and uniforms, etc.
Culver’s financial aid funds come from endowed funds, annual gifts and from our own operating budget.
Thus, we are not able to guarantee that we will be able to meet the demonstrated financial need of those applying.
We pledge to do our best. Questions about the process should be addressed to the Summer Camp Office, 800-221-2020
or 574-842-8300.
