Dan Cowell

Head Athletic Trainer

Dan Cowell came to Culver Academy in 1986 after completion of a Masters of Arts degree from Miami University of Ohio.  Dan concentrated in Exercise Science and Health Education while at Miami of Ohio.  He was accepted into the program as a graduate assistant after completion of a Bachelor of Arts Degree from John Carroll University in Cleveland Ohio.  Most recently he completed a Master of Science degree in Athletic training from California University of Pennsylvania in 2005.     

During his tenure at Culver, Dan has served many roles.  Dan proposed and developed Anatomy & Physiology as a course in 1990.  In addition to his athletic training and teaching duties, Dan brought the first bloodmobile to Culver Academies in 1989 and has served as co-chair ever since.  He was the first director of the Outdoors Challenge Course.  This is a role he gave up in 1999. He served as department chairman for the Health and Physical Education department from 1997-1999.  Dan was the first Director of the Siegfried Fitness Center from 2000-2005.  He returned to the role of full time instructor/head athletic trainer in 2005.  He continues to serve as the head athletic trainer, instructor for Anatomy & Physiology and a variety of Wellness courses.
