Randall Kent Minas
SoftballRandall Minas, a financial advisor for over 36 years, began coaching softball in 1986 when competitive softball was developing in the Midwest. Over the years he has coached over 1000 softball games ranging from beginners at 6 years old, up to summer leagues, traveling leagues, as well as assisting at the high school level, as recently as assisting with Culver Academies' JV team 4 years ago.
Randy was instrumental in organizing and developing the entire softball program for the town of Schererville, Indiana, serving for two years as President of the League of over 400 girls. During these years in late 1980's and early 1990's, he coached up to 4 teams each year, bringing numerous teams to State Championships and National Tournaments. He was instrumental in opening the Rohrman Park Girls' Softball facility, one of the largest softball complexes in northwest Indiana, created the Tri-Town Tournament, and developed an 18 + league.
His experience is illustrated in the 25 teams he coached over the course of 20 years, as he helped softball programs develop in Indiana. Culver Academies has been a familiar place for Randy and his wife, Nancy, as their 3 children attended and graduated from Culver in the late 90's and 2000, one being his daughter Dawn, this year's assistant coach. Randy places emphasis on skill-building, enthusiasm, and versatility when it comes to his teams, with his main focus on being able to build successful programs, ultimately shaping successful girls on and off the softball field. When he's not working or spending time with his family, he proudly serves on the Indiana State University Board of Trustees.
