Matt Behling
WrestlingMatt Behling joined Culver Academies as Head Wrestling Coach in 2007. Coach Behling graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. degree double majoring in Finance, and Management and Administration. He wrestled at Indiana University, lettered varsity, and was a member of a top ten nationally ranked division 1 team. While at IU he was coached by three National Champions, Duane Goldman (University of Iowa), Jason Kelber (University of Nebraska) and Alan Fried (Oklahoma State).
Coach Behling has over 13 years of coaching experience. Since coming to Culver, coach Behling has coached Culver's first State Champion in school history. In 2009 Daniel Young won the 145lbs. state title. Coach Behling has coached over 18 state finalist, 40 conference champions, 48 sectional champions, 17 regional champions and 2 semi-state champions. He was the head coach at Bremen High School for 2 years prior to coming to CMA. Before Bremen he coached as an assistant at Jimtown, Rochester and Concord High Schools. Coach Behling has a true passion for helping wrestlers reach their highest potential.
He is a member of the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association and currently runs the Culver Wrestling Club for freestyle and off-season folkstyle wrestling. Coach Behling is the Camp Director of Culver Academies National Champ Wrestling Camp which annually features NCAA Division 1 National Champions. Past clinicians include 2x Champion Mark Perry (Iowa), 1x Champion Angel Escobedo (Indiana), 1x Champion JP O'Connor (Harvard), 1x Champion Nate Gallick (Iowa State), World Team Member Nick Simmons and a host of NCAA All-Americans and NCAA Qualifiers.
Coach Behling resides in Culver, Indiana with his wife Jill and two children Haley and Braddock Behling.
