Gordon Graper Crew Award

Frank Gordon Graper was a member of the class of 1969. Gordon Graper was a four year Culver cadet and had rowed during his last two years at Culver. Graper died of cancer in 1970, and was the inspiration of the 'Gordon Graper Award,' initiated in 1976.

"Awarded to that [male] member of the Culver crew, who by vote of the team, is considered to have made the greatest contribution to rowing."

 

1st Lt Andrew Stern Crew Award

Andrew Stern was a member of the class of 1998. He was a four year Culver cadet in Battery C, and rowed during all four years at Culver. Lt. Stern was a tri-captain in crew and the Artillery Battalion commander during his senior year. Lt. Stern died as a Marine serving in Iraq on September 16, 2004, and was the inspiration of the 1st Lt. Andrew Karl Stern Crew Award, initiated in the fall of 2006.

"The 1st Lieutenant Andrew K. Stern Scholarship and Rowing Award-- Awarded annually to a rising senior on Culver's crew team who best exemplifies those traits that Andrew exhibited: Dedication, Honesty, Joyfulness, Respect, and Integrity."
