Hometown: Rolling Prairie, Indiana
Interests: Chinese, crew, forensics (speech), metacognition studies, science-fiction, guitar/singing
Why Culver: Culver has helped me reach my potential to work diligently toward my goals, serve others, and lead by positive example. When I applied, I didn’t necessarily know this, but I had a feeling this institution/community was special.
Goals while at Culver: Earn a medal at both Midwest (Crew) and State (Speech), become a part of Blue Key, and the most challenging of them all, eating alone at the dining hall.
Role Model: My dad is my most influential role model. There are many great men and women that I have come to admire, but none on such a personal level. He served this country on the U.S.S New Jersey, readily offers wisdom on every topic from ethics to teen angst, and is a perpetual optimist. He is a hero in every sense of the word.
Favorite Quote: “I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life… if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, love it and above all, become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.” Roald Dahl
