Malcolm-Robert Snyder

CMA 2013

Hometown: Clarksville, TN

Interests, Clubs, and Sports: I thoroughly enjoy reading, as well as both playing and listening to music. I am currently involved in ESH Peer Tutoring, Student Council, Diversity Council, Lancer Band, Tennis, Track, and various religious life activities such as youth group.

Volunteer Activities: ESH Peer Tutoring program, Culver Youth Community Organization (in which I hope to rise up into a leadership position this year)

Favorite Class: Honors Latin 3, though I am very much looking forward to AP Chemistry

Favorite Place to Study: Library

Favorite aspect of Culver: The aspect of Culver that I enjoy most is the sense of freedom I feel while I am here. Although one's daily life is almost completely scheduled, I feel that I am in control of what I do with my time here. I am the one who decides whether or not I succeed, and with every action I take, I realize how aware I am of what results or consequences it may bring. The freedom I feel here is not necessarily a freedom to act without limits, but rather it is the freedom to excel.

Role Model: My mom

Last Summer's Adventures: My past summer ended up being much more of a personal betterment experience than an actual vacation. For one thing, I participated in many youth group events with my church, a large part of which involved community service. I was also forced to put my nose to the grindstone with a vast amount of summer work for my upcoming classes. However, amidst these things, I also was able to take quite a bit of time for self-indulgence, during which I got much free reading done and caught up with almost all of my friends from home.

Top 3 goals for this school year: I first and foremost plan to uphold my GPA to an all A to A- range. Although I am taking quite a few difficult courses, I am sure I can accomplish this with enough effort. I also would like to practice playing tennis much more during my free time than I have in the past, as I am keen to place higher on the team in my senior year than I have previously. Finally, I aspire to mature into a stronger force of leadership in my unit, for I wish to have more of a positive impact on the role of the military system in the barracks.
