Hometown: Glen Ellyn, IL

Interests, Clubs, and Sports: At Culver, I am involved in tennis, am the theatre stage manager, and am involved in Leadership Committee for Africa, Human Rights Council, Performer’s Society, Relay for Life, Student Ambassador Organization, Chinese Club, Sin Fronteras, the Global Studies Institute, and Green Life.

Volunteer Activities: I often help with Community Service Council sponsored events such as Halloween cross guarding and volunteer at the local food pantry and humane society when I am at home. I also enjoy helping my peers with academics and serve as an Academic Skills, Evening Study Hall, and Ciel Tutor.

Favorite Class: My favorite class is Honors Pre-Calculus because it is a challenge very much in line with my skill level, therefore I am able to stretch myself to my limits but still achieve my goals.

Favorite Place to Study: My favorite place to study is the library because it is quiet and having all my materials out in front of me keeps me attentive.

Favorite aspect of Culver: My favorite aspect of Culver is hard to pin-point, but at the end of the day I would say the diversity. On campus, everything is diverse from the students’ nationalities to the classes we are able to take. With so many options, I feel that I am able to better myself in specific ways that are valuable to me and experience things I would not have been exposed to back at home.

Role Model: My role model is Nelson Mandela because he stayed completely focused on his goals no matter what complications he faced and always remained loyal to his people.  His dedication to doing the right thing not only influenced his country in a dramatic way, but also set a new standard of equality for the rest of the world.

Top 3 goals for this school year: My top three goals for this school year are to 1) Get a Gold A 2) Improve my standing on the tennis circuit (I hope to move up a few spots) 3) complete my leadership training strongly and make a good impression to improve my chances of getting leadership in the future.

Currently, my favorite quote is as follows: “Climb mountains not so the world can see you, but so you can see the world” by Anonymous. My interpretation of this quote is that you should accomplish things not for the acknowledgement of others, but rather for the sake of bettering yourself.
