Regardless of your circumstances, don't assume
that a Culver education is out of reach financially. For over
100 years we've been making a Culver education possible for
families from all walks of life, under a wide range of financial
circumstances.
The cost of private education is of concern to most families.
It represents a substantial investment in a child's future. At
Culver, we are committed to creating the value you expect from
that investment.
We believe that including students from diverse economic
backgrounds adds tremendously to the quality of the Culver
experience. For that reason, every year Culver finds a way for
as many students to attend as possible, even when financial
hurdles are significant. It is a commitment that has proved to
be sound, evidenced by the success of these students in college
and in their professional pursuits, as well as by their loyalty
and generous financial support of Culver as the years go by.
Each year, Culver awards more than
$7 million in need based financial aid and merit
scholarships to qualifying students. Our staff
assists families in determining their eligibility for aid, and
guides them in preparing a plan.
HOW FINANCIAL NEED IS DETERMINED
Apply early if you need financial aid. Be assured that admission
to The Culver Academies is made without consideration of the
need for financial aid.
Once the Parents' Financial Statement is completed, Culver
determines a family's net income before taxes and, in general,
their net worth. These figures are balanced against taxes,
educational expenses for other children, unusual debts, and
medical expenses. After admission is granted, the Financial Aid
Office then makes a decision on the extent of financial aid to
be granted. Most awards are made before April 15.
PLEASE
NOTE: SUBMISSION OF FINANCIAL AID PAPERWORK BY MARCH
1 DEADLINE DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT A FINANCIAL AID AWARD
WILL BE GRANTED BY THE FINANCIAL AID COMMITTEE.
TYPES OF
CULVER ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
Once financial need is determined, The Academies may provide
assistance as follows:
- Family Need-Based Financial Program
Grant aid is made on the basis of family need and does not
require repayment.
- Merit Scholarship Program
Culver offers scholarships based on
outstanding academic and citizenship achievement, particularly
the Batten Scholarship. Awards vary in
amount. Interested candidates should contact the Financial
Aid Office for additional information.
- Tuition Payment Plans
Culver participates in the Key Educational Resources Plan. This
plan enables families to pay all or part of annual tuition in
monthly installments without interest charges. You also can
apply for Education Completion Protection as part of your Key
payment plan. When you apply and qualify, you gain peace of mind
knowing that tuition bills will be paid if your earnings are
stopped due to total disability or death. For more information
contact the Financial Aid
Office or a Key advisor at 1.800.KEY.LEND or Key's website
at www.key.com/educate.
-
Other Assistance
Many
organizations provide tuition assistance to families, and
while these providers are limited in number, they do
exist. However,
most scholarship providers tend to be locally based, offer
funding in limited amounts based on need, and require that
students attend a school of a particular type or in a
specific community. The
National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS)
maintains a list of private school scholarship providers,
and you can access it here.
NAIS also maintains an Education
Financing Resource List that contains firms offering
tuition payment plans and tuition loan programs.
-International Financial Aid
Culver currently does not award financial aid to
international candidates.
