Phil Blessman joined the Culver Academies’ Science Department in 2004. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Northwestern University, before earning a master’s degree in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Columbia University.

His areas of study and teaching interests include physics, astronomy, cosmology, geology, history and philosophy of science, and mathematics. Mr. Blessman currently teaches AP Physics B and Physics at Culver. Prior to arriving at Culver Academies, his previous experience included the science department chair at Conserve School in Land O’Lakes, WI, and teaching positions at the Latin School of Chicago, St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH, and the University of Illinois Laboratory High School.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Blessman serves as the Head Quizbowl Coach. He served as Culver Science Department Chair from 2006-2011. He is married to Visual Arts Instructor Audrey Blessman. Their twins, Ben and Sophie, were born in 2006.
