Meet The Faculty
Josh Pretzer
Interim ChairJosh Pretzer joined the Culver Academies’ Department of Science in 1999. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Ohio Wesleyan University and completed a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University as part of the 2006 Klingenstein Center for Independent School Leadership cohort.
Mr. Pretzer currently teaches introductory chemistry and serves as the Assistant Academic Dean. He is a 2008 Williamson fellow and holds the Eppley Chair of Science. Mr. Pretzer is honored to have received the Ralph N. Manuel Award from the student body in 2004 and General Delmar T. Spivey Award from the academic department chairs in 2003.
Outside of his academic responsibilities at Culver, Mr. Pretzer is an assistant coach of the cross country and track teams, participates in Culver’s Technology Integrators learning community, works with the National Science Foundation grant project Active Chemistry, and serves as a lead instructor at the Klingenstein Summer Institute for Early Career teachers.
