Meet The Faculty
Catherine Tulungen joined the Department of Classical and Foreign Languages in 2004. Prior to coming to Culver, she lived in Indonesia and was a teacher trainer and taught English and linguistics at the university level for over 15 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in German from Middlebury College in 1986 and a master’s degree in TESOL from the School for International Training in 1988. Her areas of study and teaching interest include ESOL, English for Academic Purposes, and German. She currently teaches ESOL/English 1 and German. Ms. Tulungen is the International Student Program Coordinator. She is a member of the Learning Support Committee and has served on the Diversity Council.
She enjoys working with international students on campus, helping students in her supervisory duties in evening study halls, and occasionally being a reader for the Culver Quiz Bowl program. Ms. Tulungen is married to J. Johnnes Tulungen, an instructor in the Leadership Department, and has two sons.
