Meet The Faculty
Matthew Boland
Matthew Boland joined the Culver Academies’ Mathematics department in 2007. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Colorado State University in 1991. He then earned his teaching endorsement from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1994. He has since completed a Masters of Education at Adams State College in 2002. His areas of study and teaching interest include mathematical pedagogy, math history and literature. He is currently the Algebra 2 Level Leader and also teaches Geometry. Prior to arriving at Culver Academies, he taught both science and mathematics at Rifle High School (Rifle, Colorado) for ten years followed by three years as a math instructor at Glenwood Springs High School (Glenwood Springs, Colorado.) Mr. Boland is the head junior varsity volleyball coach. He has over nine years of experience coaching volleyball at Rifle High School and Glenwood Springs High School in Colorado. During this tenure he received training from the head men’s volleyball coach from Brigham Young University. In addition to volleyball Mr. Boland coaches wrestling. Involved in the sport since his own high school days he coached in the Rifle High School wrestling program for eight years including the preparation of three state champion wrestlers and four top ten team finishes at the state tournament. Last year he was proud to have been an assistant coach for Culver’s first Wrestling State Champion.He and his wife Karen have four children age fourteen to six who are homeschooled.
