Meet The Faculty
Martin Engelbrecht
Martin Engelbrecht joined the Culver Academies’ Mathematics department in 1985. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Valparaiso University in 1976. He went on to earn a masters degree in liberal studies from Valparaiso University in 1985 and a master’s degree in mathematics from Purdue University in 1988. His areas of study and teaching interest include statistics education, educational technology, and the history of mathematics. He has taught most of the courses offered by the Mathematics Department and currently teaches Statistics and AP Statistics. Prior to arriving at Culver Academies, he taught at Kodaikanal International School in India and at Knox Community High School in Knox, Indiana. Mr. Engelbrecht also teaches mathematics and statistics in the evening at Purdue University – North Central. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Engelbrecht is also co-chair of the Montgomery Lecture Series Committee and a member of the Duchossois Scholarship Committee. Mr. Engelbrecht was contributing author and ancillary writer for Holt, Rinehart and Winston HRW Geometry and HRW Advanced Algebra 1997 and Geometry and Algebra 2 2004, content consultant for Holt, Rinehart and Winston Precalculus 2002 and 2006, and writer for Holt, Rinehart and Winston Algebra 2 2007. Mr. Engelbrecht has four children.
