Steve Schumerth joined the Culver Academies’ Student Life Staff in 1987. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He added a Masters of Liberal Studies in Human Behavior from Valparaiso University while serving as a Unit Counselor for 16 years in Battery C. His areas of study and teaching interest include mental-health, human behavior and spiritual/biblical studies. Before coming to Culver, he taught three years on the junior high school level in social studies, physical education and religious education. He currently teaches the senior Servant Leadership Practicum and Leadership Skills courses. Prior to arriving at Culver Academies, he worked mostly in the fields of education and mental health. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Schumerth has coached JV baseball, basketball at all levels and freshmen football. Over the years at Culver, he also coached 16 years in the basketball program at various levels and two years of freshman football.
