Meet The Faculty
Steven Walton
Steven Walton joined the Humanities Department at Culver in the fall of 2010. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in history from the University of Southern Mississippi. His areas of study and teaching interests include Antebellum Southern society and culture, The American Civil War, World War I and its aftermath, European dictatorships, The Cold War, and the American Civil Rights movement. Mr. Walton is board certified in Social Studies/History by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards and is currently an assistant examiner for the International Baccalaureate History of the Americas examination. Prior to arriving at Culver, Mr. Walton served as the Social Studies department chair and taught various Advanced Placement courses and the IB History of the Americas course at Suncoast Community High School in Riviera Beach, Florida. He has also taught US and World History courses at The Columbus School in Medellin, Colombia.
In addition to his teaching duties at Culver, Mr. Walton co-chairs the Humanities Honors program and serves as an assistant coach for both the CMA and the CGA varsity tennis teams.
