Meet The Faculty
Kate Fredericks
Kate Fredericks joined the Humanities Department in 2008. After earning her B.A. in History and Theatre at Indiana University, Kate was hired by Phillips Exeter Academy as a teaching fellow in the Theatre and Dance department. She is currently one year away from completing her Master’s in English from Indiana University. Kate attended Tabor Academy as a student and thus making the decision to become a boarding school teacher was an easy one! In the Spring of 2011 she presented a paper at the 12th Annual Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference at Indiana University South Bend. She teaches at the 9th Grade Level. In her free time she is a competitive horseback rider in jumping and dressage, and competitively sails out of her hometown yacht club in Marion, MA.
Activities: Kate is the head coach of the Sailing Team at Culver. Since taking the post in the Fall of 2010, she has improved the team’s standings from 17th in the Midwest Interscholastic Sailing Association in the Fall of 2009 to 5th in only one year. She grew up on Nantucket Island and has been sailing competitively since she was nine. She raced for Tabor Academy’s nationally ranked sailing program while attending Tabor and was coached by Toby Baker, for whom the Baker National Team Racing Trophy is named.
